A light, fruity, and sparkling cocktail combining fresh strawberries, elderflower liqueur, gin, and soda water, perfect for summer celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 medium fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) elderflower liqueur (e.g., St-Germain)
  • 2 oz (60 ml) gin (London Dry or botanical gin)
  • 0.5 oz (15 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 3 oz (90 ml) soda water, chilled and fizzy
  • Ice cubes, preferably large
  • Strawberry slices and lemon wheels for garnish
  • Optional: 0.25 oz (7 ml) simple syrup if sweeter taste desired

Instructions

  1. Place sliced fresh strawberries into a mixing glass or shaker. Gently muddle with a muddler or wooden spoon for 1-2 minutes to release juices without pulverizing.
  2. Add 2 oz gin, 1.5 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and optional 0.25 oz simple syrup. Stir or shake for 30 seconds.
  3. If using a shaker, add ice cubes halfway and shake vigorously for 10-15 seconds to chill and combine. Otherwise, stir well in the glass.
  4. Fill serving glass with large ice cubes. Strain the mixture into the glass, leaving pulp behind if preferred.
  5. Top with 3 oz chilled soda water. Gently stir to combine without losing bubbles. Garnish with strawberry slices and a lemon wheel.

Notes

Use ripe, fragrant strawberries for best flavor. Muddle gently to avoid bitterness. Shake with ice before adding soda water to preserve bubbles. For a lower-alcohol version, reduce gin and replace with sparkling water or tonic. Can be prepared ahead by mixing spirits and muddled strawberries, adding soda and ice just before serving.
