  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 stalks green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to package instructions or using a rice cooker. Leftover rice works well.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, toasted sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, and red pepper flakes if using. Set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it up as it browns until caramelized but not overcooked.
  4. Drain excess fat from the pan if necessary.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the browned beef. Stir well to coat all the meat. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 3 to 4 minutes until flavors meld and sauce thickens slightly.
