Elegant and easy chocolate covered strawberries with a smooth, glossy chocolate coating and fresh, juicy berries. A quick dessert perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 medium-sized fresh strawberries, ripe and firm with leaves intact
  • 8 ounces (225 grams) high-quality chocolate chips or bar chocolate (dark, milk, or white)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts (pistachios or almonds), shredded coconut, sprinkles
  • Optional drizzle: additional white or dark chocolate for decoration

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry strawberries thoroughly with paper towels to remove all moisture. (10 minutes)
  2. Prepare a double boiler by filling the bottom with 1-2 inches of water and bringing it to a gentle simmer. Place chocolate in the top bowl and stir occasionally until smooth and silky. Alternatively, melt chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring between each until melted. (5-7 minutes)
  3. Hold each strawberry by the leaves or use a toothpick and dip into the melted chocolate, swirling to coat about three-quarters of the berry. Let excess chocolate drip off. (15 minutes)
  4. Place dipped strawberries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat, leaving space between each. Optionally sprinkle toppings before the chocolate sets. (5 minutes)
  5. For an elegant look, melt additional chocolate and drizzle over the strawberries using a piping bag or plastic bag with a snipped corner once the first layer is firm but not fully set. (5 minutes)
  6. Chill the strawberries in the refrigerator for at least 20-30 minutes to allow the chocolate to harden completely. Avoid leaving too long to prevent berries from releasing juice and softening the chocolate. (30 minutes)

Notes

Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing. Temper chocolate by melting slowly and stirring to keep it smooth and shiny. Use room temperature strawberries to avoid condensation. Work quickly as chocolate hardens fast. Chill dipped strawberries to set chocolate firmly. If chocolate thickens too much, warm gently to maintain gloss. Store leftovers in a single layer in an airtight container lined with parchment paper in the fridge and consume within 48 hours.
