Fun Halloween Skeleton Veggie Tray: 5 Easy Party Snacks

Halloween Skeleton Veggie Tray - featured image

A creative and healthy Halloween party snack that transforms raw vegetables into a spooky skeleton centerpiece using simple ingredients and a creamy bone dip.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4–6 large straight carrots
  • 3–4 large celery stalks
  • 1 large English or Persian cucumber
  • 4–6 red radishes
  • 1 pint red cherry tomatoes
  • 1 small jar pitted black or green olives
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry all vegetables thoroughly. Peel carrots if waxed and trim ends of celery and carrots.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix softened cream cheese, sour cream (or yogurt), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth. Fold in chives and set aside.
  3. Cut a 1-inch thick round slice from the cucumber for the skull. Scoop out seeds to create eye sockets and a nose triangle.
  4. Place the largest carrot in the center of a large platter to form the spine.
  5. Arrange celery stalks or smaller carrot pieces on either side of the spine to form ribs, fanning them out slightly.
  6. Attach arms and legs using longer celery stalks or unpeeled carrots, securing them to the spine with dabs of the dip.
  7. Position the cucumber skull at the top of the spine, securing it with dip.
  8. Place cherry tomatoes in the eye sockets and olive slices for the nose and teeth.
  9. Chill the tray in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes before serving to set the dip and keep vegetables crisp.

Notes

Choose straight vegetables for a better skeleton shape. Use the dip as ‘glue’ to hold the bones together. Keep the tray cold until serving to maintain crispness. For a vegan version, use plant-based cream cheese and yogurt.
