A quick and easy Halloween appetizer featuring brie cheese wrapped in puff pastry like a mummy, baked until golden and gooey with raspberry jam. Perfect for parties and guaranteed to impress guests with minimal effort.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 small wheel of brie cheese (about 8 ounces)
  • 1/4 cup raspberry jam
  • 1 large egg, beaten with 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 candy eyes
  • Flaky sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the puff pastry sheet to about a 12×12-inch square.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the pastry into thin strips, about 1/2-inch wide.
  4. Place the brie wheel in the center of the baking sheet. Spoon the raspberry jam over the top of the brie, spreading it evenly, leaving about a 1/4-inch border.
  5. Take your pastry strips and start laying them across the brie, crisscrossing them like wrapping a mummy. Leave small gaps between the strips so you can see the brie and jam peeking through. Press the ends of the strips gently against the bottom of the brie to secure them.
  6. Brush the pastry strips with the egg wash. Sprinkle a tiny pinch of flaky sea salt over the top if using.
  7. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown and the brie is soft and gooey.
  8. Let it cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. While still warm, press the two candy eyes gently into the pastry on the ‘face’ area.
  9. Transfer to a serving platter and serve warm with crackers, sliced baguette, apple slices, or pretzel chips.

Notes

Keep everything cold for best puff pastry results. Don’t overfill with jam to avoid sogginess. If pastry edges brown too fast, tent with foil. Use a serrated knife for serving. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance.
