  • Cherry tomatoes
  • Green olives (stuffed with pimentos or blue cheese)
  • Pickle spears
  • Crispy bacon strips
  • Cooked medium-sized shrimp
  • Mini grilled cheese sandwiches
  • Pickled green beans or asparagus
  • Stuffed mini peppers
  • Cheese cubes (sharp cheddar or pepper jack)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Bloody Mary Mix: In a large pitcher, combine 32 oz (1 liter) tomato juice with 12 oz (360 ml) vodka. Add 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lemon juice, 2 tbsp (30 ml) Worcestershire sauce, 1 tbsp (15 ml) hot sauce, and 1 tbsp (15 ml) prepared horseradish. Stir well until evenly mixed.
  2. Season the Mix: Sprinkle in 1 tsp (5 g) celery salt, 1/2 tsp (2 g) freshly ground black pepper, and 1/2 tsp (2 g) smoked paprika if using. Stir again and taste test. Adjust heat with extra hot sauce if desired.
  3. Chill the Mix: Refrigerate the Bloody Mary base for at least 30 minutes until cold. If in a rush, pour over ice when serving but avoid diluting the mix.
  4. Prep the Garnishes: Wash and trim celery stalks. Slice cherry tomatoes in halves if large. Arrange olives, pickles, pickled veggies, cheese cubes, and mini grilled cheese sandwiches in bowls. Cook bacon strips until crispy and drain. Peel and devein shrimp. Assemble some garnishes on skewers for convenience.
  5. Set Up the Bar: Place the pitcher of Bloody Mary mix in the center of the serving area, surrounded by bowls of garnishes, skewers, glasses, and a bucket of ice. Add small plates or napkins for guests.
  6. Serving: Invite guests to fill glasses with ice, pour Bloody Mary mix, and customize with their favorite garnishes.

Notes

Keep extra celery salt and hot sauce nearby for guests to adjust flavor. Chill the mix thoroughly for best taste. Assemble some garnishes on skewers ahead of time but keep delicate items like mini grilled cheese sandwiches separate until serving. Drain pickled veggies well to prevent sogginess. The mix can be made up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated. Garnishes like bacon and mini sandwiches are best served fresh but can be prepped a day ahead and stored separately.
