A quick and easy recipe for creating charming chocolate dipped strawberry roses on crunchy pretzel stems, perfect for special occasions or a delightful treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Fresh strawberries, medium to large size, firm but ripe
  • Pretzel rods (thin, crunchy pretzel sticks)
  • 8 ounces semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped or chips
  • 4 ounces white chocolate (optional) for drizzling or decorating
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or butter to thin the chocolate
  • Toothpicks or skewers for creating the rose petal effect
  • Wax paper or parchment paper for setting the dipped strawberries

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry strawberries thoroughly to ensure chocolate sticks properly (about 5 minutes).
  2. Using a sharp knife, slice the strawberry thinly from the tip upward, stopping just before the green cap so the slices stay attached. Gently fan out the slices to resemble rose petals.
  3. Carefully push a pretzel rod into the green cap end of each strawberry, angling it slightly to mimic a rose stem. Set aside on wax paper.
  4. Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler, heating in 20-second intervals and stirring until smooth (about 3-5 minutes).
  5. Holding the pretzel stem, dip each strawberry rose halfway or fully into the melted chocolate. Let excess drip off and place back on wax paper to set.
  6. Optional: Melt white chocolate and drizzle over the dipped strawberries using a fork or spoon for decoration (adds about 5 minutes).
  7. Chill the dipped roses in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes or until the chocolate hardens.
  8. Serve arranged on a platter or bouquet holder. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Notes

Ensure strawberries are completely dry before dipping to prevent chocolate from seizing. Use gentle heat to melt chocolate to avoid burning. Refrigerate dipped strawberries to set chocolate fully for a professional look and satisfying crunch. For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free pretzel rods or substitute celery sticks. For dairy-free, use dairy-free chocolate and coconut oil.
