A simple yet indulgent chocolate fondue board perfect for romantic evenings, featuring a blend of dark and milk chocolate with an array of dippables.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate (70% cocoa recommended)
  • 4 ounces milk chocolate
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream (or full-fat coconut milk for dairy-free option)
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Fresh fruit: sliced strawberries, apple wedges, banana chunks, pear slices, seasonal berries, pomegranate seeds
  • Savory dippables: pretzel sticks, biscotti, lightly salted crackers
  • Sweet treats: marshmallows, mini cookies, cubed pound cake
  • Nuts: roasted almonds or hazelnuts
  • Optional extras: drizzle of honey or sprinkle of cinnamon on fruit

Instructions

  1. Finely chop both the dark and milk chocolate into small, even pieces (about 4 ounces each).
  2. Pour 1/3 cup heavy cream into a small saucepan and warm over medium-low heat until just about to simmer (bubbles forming around edges but not boiling).
  3. Remove cream from heat and immediately add chopped chocolate. Let sit for 30 seconds to soften, then gently stir until smooth and glossy. Add a pinch of sea salt and stir again.
  4. Arrange sliced fruits, nuts, cookies, marshmallows, and pretzels on a wooden board, grouping items by texture and color.
  5. Pour melted chocolate into a fondue pot or heatproof bowl. Set fondue pot to low heat to keep chocolate warm and fluid, or cover bowl with foil to retain heat.
  6. Place fondue pot in center of board or table, surround with dippables, and set out fondue forks or skewers.
  7. Dip, swirl, and enjoy. If chocolate thickens, gently rewarm in short bursts in microwave or over double boiler.

Notes

Melt chocolate gently over low heat or in short microwave bursts to avoid burning. Stir constantly after adding cream for a glossy finish. Keep fondue pot on low heat to maintain chocolate texture. If chocolate seizes, stir in a teaspoon of warm cream slowly. Use lemon water to prevent fruit slices from browning. Leftover melted chocolate can be stored in fridge up to 3 days and reheated gently.
